Explore coastal British Columbia with BC Ferries

Let BC Ferries help you discover what life on the coast is all about. With year-round service on 25 routes throughout the British Columbia coast, BC Ferries is the province's primary provider of coastal ferry service and one of the largest, most sophisticated ferry transportation systems in the world. A vital marine link for island residents and businesses alike, BC Ferries also delivers a memorable scenic journey to the millions of travellers who include ferry travel in their visits to the West Coast every year.

BC Ferries offers vehicle and passenger ferry service between the B.C. mainland and Vancouver Island, as well as to the Gulf Islands, the Sunshine Coast, the spectacular Inside Passage, the Queen Charlotte Islands and summer service on the Discovery Coast Passage. In all, there are 47 ports of call from which to choose.

There are 34 ships in the fleet, representing a wide range of sizes and classes. At the grandest end of the spectrum are the S-Class twins, Spirit of British Columbia and Spirit of Vancouver Island. Measuring 170 metres long (picture two football fields back-to-back), these vessels can accommodate up to 2,100 people and 470 vehicles. Compare those figures with the 34-metre Nimpkish, which carries 133 people and 16 vehicles, and you'll have some idea of the diversity of the fleet . The larger vessels feature a wide variety of amenities, including top-notch catering services, kids' play areas, gift shops, view lounges, telephones, video arcades and more.
