Healing tower

There aren't many better places for an eagle hospital than in a tower high in the sky and form will meet function once the Brackendale Eagle Monument Tower is completed.

The project is being built on the evolving property of the Brackendale Art Gallery, affectionately referred to locally as BAG, in addition to its theatre, studios, restaurant and chapel. The tower will be a conceptual design by sustainable architect Henry Yorke Mann to embody and celebrate the spirit of the area's symbolic resident and house a rehabilitation centre.

Local veterinarian Stein Hoff will provide care for injured, sick and malnourished birds in the 4.5-metre-square, three-storey tower. The eagle tower will also act as a laboratory and house research materials for visiting biologists, birders, naturalists and hobbyists, not only relating to eagles but also salmon and the broader needs of the environment in and around Brackendale (map) to maintain and sustain its animal populations.

Check out photos of the construction of the eagle tower.
