The areas of Nunavut committed to mineral prospecting, those shaded in orange, are all currently active. Over 1,000 prospecting permits, mineral leases and claims where issued in Nunavut this year and over 1,500 were issued last year. Nunavut has committed over 100 million acres to development and much less than that for conservation.
