Visiting Dawson is a musical adventure

Klondike by night

True, bawdy Klondike hospitality in Dawson City can be found at Diamond Tooth Gerties Gambling Hall. Built in 1910 by the Arctic Brotherhood, the building became the centre of Dawson's social scene. It was taken over by the Klondike Visitors Association in 1971 and was converted into Canada's first casino.

The casino was named for Gertie Lovejoy, a dance-hall queen who had a diamond inserted between her two front teeth. It continues to follow the traditions of her lifestyle with nightly live can-can shows. It is still equipped as a fully functional casino with blackjack and poker tables, roulette wheels and slot machines. All of the revenue generated by the casino is reinvested back into the community and used to promote the Klondike area and preserve its history and culture.
