Discover Cypress Hills

Leisure and Recreation

There's no shortage of outdoor activities in the Cypress Hills area, home to the Cypress Hills Interprovincial Park. In the summer you can camp, picnic, boat, fish, hike, swim, soak up the sun, water ski, golf, play volleyball or baseball, cycle, or just look for wildlife as you make your way through the area's trails and lakes. During winter, visitors can take advantage of groomed cross-country ski trails, downhill skiing, ice fishing, snowshoeing, tobogganing, curling and winter camping.

The more historically inclined can visit Fort Walsh National Historic Site, 40 km from the park. There, learn about the history of the Mounties, see traces of ancient Aboriginal camping sites, including teepee rings and scattered stone tools, or visit a recreation of a fur-trading post, including refurbished buildings and costumed interpreters.
