Holidays on Horseback
Gallop across unbroken grasslands, climb steep mountain trails,
listen to coyotes yip as you stretch your legs around a campfire
and free your mind from the whirr of city life. A holiday on horseback
is the quintessential way to see the unspoiled Canadian West and
relive the thrill of early range riders exploring the vast prairie
landscape. Guest ranches and outfitters from British Columbia to
Manitoba offer a variety of trips for novice and experienced riders
alike. You can take your pick between day rides departing a central
lodge or overnight hauls through mountain wilderness that will have
you bedding down under the stars. Check the links below for more
information that will make you at home on the range.

Formed in 1923, the Trail Riders of the Canadian Rockies (TRCR) is a not-for-profit
association of riders that host a variety of trips from their Teepee Town
base camp. TRCR hosts eight rides in 2003 but limits its client list to
15 participants so you have to move fast! Specializing in trips deep into
the wilderness of Banff National Park, the group uses its site to present
the season schedule, prices, ride-area maps and all the background info
you need to make plans for camping out in teepees and eating around the
campfire.
