In 2002, Prince Edward Island became the first province to complete its segment of the coast-to-coast Trans Canada Trail. PEI's Confederation Trail, which runs 279 kilometres from Tignish to Elmira, offers unlimited opportunities for adventurers. Built on the bed of a former railway line, the trail is a relatively leisurely ride, but the variety of sidetrips and branch trails with their mix of historical, natural, cultural and community highlights makes for a fulfilling vacation.
