SMALL AND MIGHTY
Canon Rebel XTi
The hottest-selling DSLR on the market
today just had a major makeover. Now at
10.1 megapixels, the Rebel XTi ($925, body
only) offers the most resolution among
entry-level DSLRs, and it shoots three
frames per second. It comes with a selfcleaning
sensor and has a convenient
thumb-controlled autofocus that progresses
quickly through nine different
focus points. Despite all the bells and whistles, the Rebel XTi remains one of the most
compact DSLRs on the market - ideal
for those who want to travel light.
FAST AND FURIOUS
Nikon D200
Perfect for the amateur who wants to
achieve professional results, Nikon's beautiful
10.2-megapixel D200 ($1,849, body
only) fires up in the blink of an eye and features
a continuous high-speed shooting
capability of up to five frames per second,
ideal for action sequences. It comes with
an oversized viewfinder, and its top-of-theline
autofocus continuously tracks as many
as seven moving subjects, enabling accuracy
found only on Nikon's finest models.
Its super-sensitive CCD provides stable
pixel colours even in low light, and the
D200 also has the dust-cleaning diode on
shutdown. But don't think the superlative
sensitivity renders this camera dainty. The
D200 comes in a bombproof magnesiumalloy
chassis with the size, weight, feel and
structure of a serious professional body.
