And the winners are...

GRAND PRIZE:

Title: A Toast
Place: Eiffel Tower, Paris, Ile-de-France Region, France
Submitted by: Lauren Curry
When we were kids, we always said that one day we would backpack around Europe together. This photo captures the realization of that dream. It was taken the evening we met in Paris in celebration of our lasting friendship over time and distance.

SEMIFINALISTS:

Title: When I Wasn't Looking....
Place: Salt Lick Lodge, Taita Hills, Kenya
Submitted by: Lynn Amaral
I was writing in my journal, when I looked up this herd of over 80 elephants was standing in front of me drinking. I was shocked that they literally approached in silence. I did not hear them at only 150 (unobstructed) feet away!

Title: Cavendish the Painting
Place: Cavendish, Prince Edward Island, Canada
Submitted by: Ken Bundy
We have never been to the Maritimes. I just couldn't ignore how the sun played with the Maritimes, and how the Maritimes played with the sun. I want to go back.

Title: Ganges at Dawn
Place: Agra, South of New Dehli, India
Submitted by: Diane Mawson
Being on the Ganges as the mist cleared and the sun came up was one of the highlights of my trip to India.

RUNNERS-UP:

Title: Chesterman Beach
Place: Tofino, British Columbia, Canada
Submitted by: Scott Arthur
My daughters were waxing their surfboards from another day of surfing while my wife and I took a long stroll on the beach. I ran back to get my camera so I could catch this amazing sunset on Chersterman Beach in Tofino.

Title: Awe Inspiring
Place: Burnaby Mountain, Burnaby, Canada
Submitted by: Michael Jean
This was one of the weirdest of days in BC I've ever seen. For about a week and a half we had a cloud inversion, so I met a friend up on Burnaby Mountain and was awe-struck by the beauty above the clouds...unforgettable.

Title: Sunrise over Joshua Tree
Place: Joshua Tree National Park, California, United States
Submitted by: Irv Kochman
I got up at 5:30 each morning to catch the sunrise, waiting with my camera but the shot wasn't there. By the seventh morning, I didn't take my camera and there it was. So I ran in, fumbled for my camera and made it just in time, before the sun rose too high.

Title: Standing on the Edge
Place: Salmon Glacier, British Columbia, Canada
Submitted by: Christian Lev
On our way to see the Salmon Glacier in northern BC, we stopped along the side of the mining road for a spectacular view.

Title: Just Lean Back
Place: Arenal Volcano, Alajuela Province, Costa Rica
Submitted by: Corinne Lutter
Waterfall rappelling for the first time required a leap of faith — literally. It requires you to jump backwards off a platform on the edge of a cliff — with drops of up to 160 feet — into the cool, rushing waterfalls below. After my legs stopped shaking, it was quite an adrenaline rush!

Title: Hobbiton
Place: Matamata, Waikato, New Zealand
Submitted by: Elliot MacDonald
We were skeptical about the claims to "Visit Hobbiton" and didn't expect much as we boarded the small van with half a dozen fellow nerds. By the end of the afternoon we were checking real estate guides for a deals on a nice two-bedroom hobbit hole.

Title: Venice
Place: Venice, Italy
Submitted by: Mike Meade
I was only able to spend one day in Venice. It is a city like no other. For me, the quiet canals reflected the true beauty of this Italian treasure.

Title: Romantic Setting
Place: Fira, Santorini, Greece
Submitted by: Carol Neary
A romantic walk along the paths intertwined among the whitewash houses and old churches in the late evening, trying every angle to get the perfect picture of the most romantic sunset in the world! This picture was taken through a gated entrance to a luxury hotel overlooking the caldera. Absolutely breathtaking!

Title: First Run
Place: Big White, Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada
Submitted by: Sarah Stickney
This picture was taken on opening day at Big White. The day couldn't have been any nicer, and LOTS of fresh powder to top it off.

Title: Silhouettes
Place: Cairo, Egypt
Submitted by: Sarah Twomey
This was taken my first night in Cairo, walking along the Nile River during sunset. In a city filled with millions of people, these two seemed somehow very solitary.

Congratulations to all our winners and thank you to all who participated.
