Rules & Regulations
Format
Photos submitted by mail cannot be larger than 8" x 12".
Digital entries can be submitted on CD or uploaded from the Canadian
Geographic website or by e-mail at webmaster@canadiangeographic.ca.
Publication
Canadian Geographic reserves the right to refuse a submission
based on unsuitability. Names and photographs will be published
on www.canadiangeographic.ca. Canadian Geographic reserves the
non-exclusive right to publish any entry and/or use any entry in
promotional material or in future issues of the print magazine.
Model releases are the responsibility of the entrant and must be
available.
Return of Entries
Winning entries will be retained by
Canadian Geographic. All other contestants who provide one pre-paid
return envelope for their entries will have their entries returned
by February 28, 2007.
Responsibility
Canadian Geographic cannot
be held responsible for entries that are lost, damaged,
or delayed during transportation.
Contest
Eligibility
The contest is open to all Canadian residents except
directors and employees of Canadian Geographic Enterprises,
The Royal Canadian Geographical Society, any of
the sponsoring companies or affiliated companies. This includes
their immediate families, cohabitants, agents or contractors. Photos
entered must not have been previously published. Individuals can
only win once per category, but may win in multiple categories.
Entries and Identification
All entries sent by mail must be submitted
in one envelope and each entry must have a fully completed
entry form (photocopies acceptable) affixed with tape to the back
of each photograph. If an entry is received without one clearly
designated category, judges reserve the right to place the entry
in an appropriate category. Entries not meeting these formats
and identification requirements will not be eligible for judging.
Entrants who submit their photos by uploading from the website
or submitting by e-mail must have completed all sections of the
entry form and accepted the terms of the rules and regulations.
Deadline
All entries must be postmarked on or before December
31, 2006 and must be received by January 7, 2007. Mail
or deliver entries to: Canadian Geographic CG Gets Around! Contest,
39 McArthur Avenue, Ottawa, Ontario, K1L 8L7.
Judging
The winners will be selected by a panel
of judges in Ottawa, Ontario on January 8, 2007. Winners will
be notified by 5 p.m. EST on January 15, 2007. Decision of the judges
is final.
Prizes
One (1) Grand Prize will be given for each category (Creative
composition; Exotic locations; Famous landmarks; Group shots;
Sporting events) of a one-year subscription to Canadian Geographic
magazine. If the winner already has a subscription to the
magazine, the current subscription will be extended for one year.
