November culinary adventure
During the week of November 6 to 10, 2002, visitors to Whistler, British Columbia,
will get their adrenaline rush off the slopes as the village's cobblestone streets are alive with
epicureans on hand for Cornucopia. In its sixth year, the gathering, which is dubbed Whistler's Food
and Wine Celebration, provides a showcase for the talents and trade secrets of leading chefs and
winemakers. The event has become a Mecca for culinary adventurers who want to sample the region's gourmet
food and fine wine.
More than 50 internationally recognized wineries and celebrity chefs, including Rob Feenie,
Vicky McCaffree, Vincent Stufano and Robert Clark, will participate in gala events and tastings,
winemaker dinners, and food and wine seminars. On November 6 and 7, professionals enjoy two days of
intensive educational seminars and tasting events — a.k.a. Trade Days — before the consumer
celebration begins. Public events, which fill the schedule from the evening of Thursday, November 7,
kick off with the Preview Grand Tasting that provides the first hint of ambrosial food and wine to come.
One highlight is the Winemaker Dinners on Saturday night that celebrate Whistler's finest restaurants.
Visitors can purchase tickets for a range of individual sessions such as Cooking West of the Rockies,
A Taste of Niagara, Chef's Trip to the Farm, Whistler Walk, and Cooking Canadian. Festival passes are
also available.
