Mont Tremblant Skiing
If
you want to combine outdoor adventure and holiday giving this season,
just make a trip to Mont Tremblant in the Quebec Laurentians between
December 14 and 16 for the first Canadian edition of the Grand Prix
24h. Over 24 consecutive hours, four- to six-member relay teams will
cover the maximum possible distance — over trails and hills —
to raise money for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF).
Modelled on the celebrated Swiss event, which took place at the town
of Villars-sur-Olion last January, there will be several competition
categories — general public, corporate, junior, senior, paralympic
and racing — so that snow-lovers of all skill levels can participate.
Team members, including both skiers and snowboarders, will rotate position
around the clock in relay fashion as they accumulate distance and sponsorship
funds for the cause. The objective of the three-day event is to raise
$150,000 for the Montréal-based JDRF, which is looking for a
cure for diabetes and its complications.
This is a great weekend for participants and spectators alike as a
roster of international sports and entertainment celebrities are expected
to hit the slopes and attend the après-ski celebrations and entertainment.
