Again he entered the Arctic, this time hitching a ride on a Coast Guard icebreaker in 1997,and with the use of sonar technology, reduced the field of search yet again.

Finally, in the spring of 2001, Woodman narrowed area to eight single search points, again with the aid of the magnetometer.

This determined Canadian explorer has been scouring the Arctic for the Terror and the Erebus for the past 29 years and is determined to find their remains hidden beneath the icy surface.
His latest search to be held last August unfortunately was postponed. Woodman and his Irish partners, John Murray and Kevin Cronin, failed to obtain an Archaeologist Permit from the Government of Nunavut and had to cancel their 2003 search expedition. But they were not defeated. This spring, May 9 to 23, Woodman plans to head out again to locate one of the lost vessels.

At 48-years-old, Woodman is still that little boy chasing a dream.
