The Guadalajara International Book Fair is one of five exhibitions at which the Association for the Export of Canadian Books puts up a big tent and fills it with delightful reading. Publishers are also represented at the London Book Fair, the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, BookExpo America and the Frankfurt Book Fair.


Scientists study the Axolotl salamander because of its unique ability to regenerate body parts, but it is vanishing from its polluted habitat south of México. The Metro Toronto Zoo is part of an international team working to protect the salamander’s environment and reintroduce salamanders currently in captivity back into the wild.



Québec De Marque company entered Mexico with Teclado Fácil, the Spanish version of its Typing Pal software (Tap'Touche in French). Founders Guy Bergeron and Marc Boutet created the program to teach keyboarding in North America, Europe and Australia. In some of the product's nine languages, Garfield and junior versions are available.


Montréal's Compagnie Marie Chouinard has been on the road a lot - most recently in Mexico, with 24 Preludes by Chopin and Le Cri du Monde, a dance that explores the limits of the body. Chouinard has created about 50 works and taken them to more than 20 countries.
