Argilos was a Macedonian city settled around 650 BCE. Its people traded timber and gold with the Thracians, and are noted in the histories of Herodotus and Thucydides. Argilos is being excavated for the Canadian Archeological Institute at Athens under the direction of Professor Jacques Perreault of Université de Montréal.
